I prepare and place student teachers for full semester experiences through three special, "cultural immersion" projects:

  • The American Indian Reservation Project, with placements on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah;
  • The Overseas Project, with placements in seventeen overseas nations (Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, and Wales);
  • The Urban Project, with placements in Chicago city schools and neighborhoods through collaboration with Chicago Public Schools.

Through the Overseas Practicum for Experienced Teachers, I also provide inservice teachers with opportunities to live and teach overseas for three weeks during our summer months, when many schools abroad are still open.

In all of the Cultural Immersion Projects, immersion into the host culture through school and commmunity participation is a hallmark.
